What are class sizes? Several of my friends and I want to take a class together.

You are certainly welcome to participate as a group; typically, enrollment is limited to six (6) students per workshop. Some one-day workshops allow from eight (8) students per workshop and our Standing Blue Heron workshop is limited to four (4) students.

Is there a “last day to register?

We accept registrations as little as one week in advance, but recommend registering sooner as space is limited and workshops fill quickly.

What if I register for a workshop but then cannot attend? Will my money be refunded?

We do not provide refunds. If you are unable to attend on the date your workshop is scheduled we will do our best to reschedule you to the next available workshop that agrees with your schedule. However, we require seven (7) days (one week) cancellation notice prior to the scheduled workshop in order to reschedule to another date. Whenever possible, we will reschedule you to a new workshop date no more than 90 days out from your original workshop date. Less than seven (7) days notice and/or failure to coordinate with us to reschedule a workshop occurring within 90 days will result in forfeiture of the entire fee.

I will be coming from a considerable distance. What overnight accommodations are available?

Port Townsend is one of only two or three Victorian Seaports remaining in the United States and a great place to vacation with a good variety of accommodations…from Victorian Bed and Breakfast homes and hotels to the Hostel at Fort Worden. Fort Worden State Park also offers good deals for groups staying in the Officers Quarters of the original fort. Check out www.ptguide.com for more information about overnight accommodations and Port Townsend in general.

What do I bring with me to the workshop?

Essentially, just yourself, unless you register for a workshop, such as the Found Rock Fountain Workshop, which requires your favorite rock. Such requirements will be described on the workshops page.

Otherwise, the following information should be helpful. Prior to beginning work we will review safety measures. However, the following will assist you in coming prepared. Wear clothing suitable for shop work i.e., something you won’t mind getting a little dirty, but also dress for warmth as ventilation can result in a chilly shop. Because we will be working with open flame do not wear synthetics such as polyester. We ask that you remove all jewelry, (especially rings) before beginning work. You may want to consider leaving jewelry at home. Wear work shoes, no open or cloth or canvas shoes. Properly fitting work gloves are recommended and if, appropriate, bring along hair fasteners to tie back long hair. Eye and ear protectors will be available for your use, but if you have our own, please bring them along.
